Social Media: What it is, why it matters and how to use it
Hello everybody! Make sure you don’t miss the meeting this week where we will focus on the current, and constantly growing, trend of social media. We will also be introduced to Dean Tine Stewart, internship coordinator for the Scripps College of Communication.
The effect social media has already had on the way business is conducted is undeniable. Even more clear is the direction it is leading the future. We will show you how important blogs and social networking are for you, both personally and professionally. We will explain microblogs, RSS readers and Wikis. We will teach you how to use your own social bookmarking site and define confusing terminology such as SMO vs. SEO.
This is a great way to learn about some of the basic tools that are very helpful in the field of public relations. These are also topics that are most likely not taught in the classroom but will broaden your knowledge of various business practices.
We hope to see you at 6 p.m. in Scripps 111.
There are only a few weeks left to become a dues-paying member for the year. Please make checks for $65 dollars to PRSSA. As always, if you have any questions, please respond to scripps.prssa@gmail.com. You can also check us out on twitter (twitter.com/ScrippsPRSSA).
