Monday's Meeting, Feb. 16

This week we have a great panel of professionals, Anietra Hamper, Sarah Irvin Clark, and Jamie Heberling, who will be sharing with us about media relations strategies and personal branding.

Anietra Hamper has spent the last 17 years crafting her skills as a journalist and as a top rated television news Anchor and Reporter. As an Emmy nominated journalist, Anietra has mastered the ability to target the heart of political/social issues in order to tell a strong story. Anietra’s career has enabled her to interview Presidential candidates, battle flames with firefighters and take a rare flight on an F-16 fighter jet with the U.S. Thunderbirds.

Anietra was most recently the morning and midday Anchor at WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio where she spent nine years. Anietra has also worked at WKEF/WRGT in Dayton, Ohio and WTTE/WSYX in Columbus, Ohio. Anietra’s passion for news also took her to Washington D.C. to work for The McLaughlin Group cable news debate forum.

Anietra graduated Cum Laude from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio with a B.A. in Communications and Political Science. She also studied journalism at The American University in Washington D.C.

Besides numerous awards for journalism, speech writing and public speaking, Anietra has been recognized for her work in the community. She has received the YWCA Women of Achievement Award, The U.S. Congressional Award, the JC Penny Golden Rule Award and the Jefferson Award for her public service.

Anietra strives to find her work/life balance through fishing, photography, fitness and playing with her dog Sunny that she rescued.

Sarah Irvin Clark has excelled in the public relations industry for more than 15 years and has worked in some of the most prominent public relations firms in central Ohio. She has worked on such major accounts as Honda of America Mfg., Limited Brands, the Ohio Division of Travel and Tourism and more.

In 2004, Sarah founded Irvin Public Relations and currently serves the public relations needs of more than 20 clients. As the media director for such beloved events as the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure and the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon, Sarah has helped to grow these events by thousands of participants. Additionally, Sarah conducts public relations for The Columbus, A Renaissance Hotel; Experience Columbus; the Wexner Center, COSI and is the publicist for Feld Entertainment (Ringling Bros. and Disney On Ice) throughout five markets in Ohio; among others.

In her spare time, Sarah is also a board member of The German Village Society, Dine Originals Columbus (a group of more than 40 individually owned and operated restaurants) and See Kids Dream.

Jamie Heberling is the communications director for Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray. She manages a team of writers, designers, event planners and new media experts whose mission is to enhance the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and user-friendliness of the office's services, with a primary focus on consumer protection and crime victims' advocacy. Her professional background includes about five years in the private sector working for public relations agencies around Columbus, including Fahlgren Mortine and B&A, in addition to a brief stint with NBC's Today show.

In 2005, Jamie was named a "Rising Star" by the Central Ohio Public Relations Society of America. She is a graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
