Monday's Meeting, Feb. 2

Happy Monday everyone! Hopefully everyone will be able to take some time out of midterm studying to hear our first speaker of the quarter and former Bobcat, Shannon Stucky.

Shannon is the assistant vice president of special situations at Financial Dynamic in New York City. Since joining FD in March 2007, Shannon has been instrumental in developing and executing communications programs that support clients' efforts to raise capital, restructure, manage their corporate reputation, overcome crises and emerge as thought leaders. Among her recent work, she supported AIG Worldwide Life during the October 3, 2008, announcement of AIG’s plan of restructuring; developed internal and external communications for the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings of Tropicana Entertainment and Goody's Family Clothing; represented Constellation Energy, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and the Chicago Board of Trade in M&A assignments, and supported the initial public offerings of MF Global and RiskMetrics Group.

Prior to joining FD, Shannon was a senior account manager with The Torrenzano Group, driving ongoing thought leadership programs for industry-leading clients and helping to build the firm's transaction communications practice. Her clients included Grant Thornton LLP, WNS Global Services (including through its IPO on the NYSE in July 2006), Radian Group, Lloyds and The American Stock Exchange. Previously, she interned at Lord, Sullivan and Yoder (now Fahlgren-Mortine) Public Relations and in the public relations department of Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

A 2003 graduate of Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, magna cum laude, from the University's Honors Tutorial College. While at OU, Shannon was CEO of ImPRessions, which under her leadership, earned national recognition as the Public Relations Student Society of America's 2003 Outstanding Student-Run Firm. Additionally, she was honored by the faculty of the Journalism School as the Outstanding Graduate of 2003 and, in 2002, received Robert Baker Scholarship and George Starr Lasher Living Legacy Award.

Please join us as we welcome back Shannon to Athens and show her all the things our chapter is currently working on. We will also discussing events we have coming up soon such as the Valentine's Day Shuffle for My Sister's Place and the Mentor/Mentee event this weekend.

Membership dues must be turned in by February 23rd. Please make checks out to PRSSA. Also, we have a few spots remaining for the Chicago trip, and the last day to RSVP will be Feburary 9th. Make sure you get your spot, don't delay!
