Negotiating a Job Offer

Hi all,

Yes, I'm posting even though it's summer. I come across items for Honald's Hints pretty randomly and like to share them when I do.

Many of my seniors last year admitted cluelessness about how to negotiate salary, etc. when offered a job. Though conventional wisdom in a tough economy might be to take what's offered, I generally think it's in a person's best interest to negotiate--1) this is one of the only times you will have some leverage and 2) negotiating sets a tone that you value yourself and the organization should as well, something that will be important during your tenure at the company.
