Tonight's meeting will provide important details of our upcoming Chicago trip and ways for you to get involved with the chapter publications such as PRSuccess, PRofessional and our philanthropic activity, the Valentine's Day shuffle.

Chicago Update

If you planning to come to Chicago, please RSVP to scripps.prssa@gmail.com by Monday, February 2, 2009. You will be turning in your check for your hotel within the two weeks that follow the deadline. You may also RSVP by signing up at next weeks meeting. Because there is a limited amount of space available, dues-paying members will receive priority for registration. Total cost is currently between $150-$165 with everything included.

There are also five (5) spots remaining for the Zolio.com focus group this Friday, January 23, 2009 at 4:00pm. Please send an RSVP to scripps.prssa@gmail.com if you wish to participate. Participants will receive a free dinner and gift certificate to the Front Room Coffeehouse in Baker. This is a particularly good opportunity if you have not observed a focus group in the past.

No meeting tonight - focus group this Friday!

I hope you were all able to enjoy the long weekend! Please remember that that there is no meeting this evening (Jan.19) because of the holiday. We will resume our regular meeting time next Monday.

For those of you who were able to attend our first meeting last week, you heard about a focus group opportunity with Zolio.com this Friday, Jan. 23. Participants will receive a free pizza dinner, refreshments and a gift card to the Front Room Coffeehouse. The first 20 people to reply to scripps.prssa@gmail.com will be have a reservation to participate. Focus groups are often a part of communications research, and this is a fantastic opportunity to be involved and observe how one is conducted. The group will meet at 4pm in Baker (location and further details will be mailed to participants). If you wish to participate, please be clear about wanting to do so in your reply email.

Finally, we will be conducting elections for next year's PRSSA Executive Board in March. We will be distributing an information sheet soon that describes the responsibilities of each position. All dues-paying members are eligible to run. More details will be given at next week's meeting. As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. Monday's Meeting, Jan. 9

Welcome back! I hope you all had a successful first week and are excited to be back in Athens. We have a lot of exciting things coming up this winter quarter for PRSSA. Our first meeting this quarter will be full of information about chapter activities and opportunities.

We will outline member information such as the internship/job database and explain how you can still become a dues-paying member this quarter! We will also discuss how to get involved in the chapter with becoming a writer for our professional newsletters and upcoming Mentor/Mentee events. Also, we will explain details of our upcoming networking trip to Chicago.

This is also an opportunity to meet Tina Stewart, the internship coordinator for Scripps College of Communication.

I hope you all were able to enjoy your long Winter break! As a the first day of classes comes to a close, this is a friendly reminder that PRSSA weekly meetings will resume next Monday, January 12 at 6:00 p.m. in E.W. Scripps Hall Rm. 111.

We will be discussing several upcoming activities for the year, including our networking trip to Chicago in early March. We will also hear briefly from Dean Tina Stewart, the internship coordinator for the College of Communication. For those of you planning to go to Chicago or searching for an internship this summer, this is an important meeting to attend.

In addition, if you ordered an official PRSSA t-shirt or would like to purchase an extra, you can pick them up at next week's meeting (please make any checks payable to "PRSSA"... $12 for members and $15 for non).
