Miss USA/Miss Universe Paid Internships

Attached is the info for this year's Miss USA/Miss Universe internships (2 each).

Miss USA is ideal for those graduating in winter, as it is paid and occurs during spring term; Miss Universe is in the summer.

The internships are *highly competitive*, but the coordinator loves Scripps students and we have made an excellent showing in the past.

Apps are due Jan 15th.

Interns are an integral part of CLS. They provide administrative support for account teams, research public policy issues, plan and execute events, and assist with strategic thinking for a broad range of domestic and international clients. The small size of our firm allows interns to work closely with senior staff members and provides opportunities for substantive work. Candidates must be able to juggle a range of tasks and work well under pressure. Previous office environment experience and a major in communications, public relations, journalism or political science is preferred, but not required. Foreign language proficiency, especially in French or Spanish, is a plus.

This is a paid internship and candidates must be able to work 20-30 hours per week starting in early January. Start and end dates are negotiable. Thanksgiving Dinner

Hey everyone!

It's that time of year again! PRSSA Thanksgiving Dinner will be THIS Monday, November 16 during our normal meeting time, 6PM. This year's dinner will be held at 32 N. Congress Street. Freshmen- please let a member of exec board or your mentor know if you need directions or a ride. Also, we are asking that everyone bring some sort of side dish so that we will have plenty of food! 

Thanksgiving dinner is a great way to take a break from exams, mingle with fellow members and JSchool faculty and, of course, enjoy some great food. Hope to see you all there!

Summer 2010 Internship Opportunity

Liggett Stashower (LS) is an Ohio-based brand-building agency looking for your best and brightest students for our Summer 2010 Internship Program. Please help us spread the word.

The LS Internship Program gives students a chance to dive into authentic marketing situations with real, genuine clients. There might be a bit of copying, faxing and filing, but our interns come here to learn and contribute and they quickly become part of the team.

Each year, we hire six to ten talented juniors and seniors from colleges around the country for our summer internship program. We offer hands-on, real-life experience that prepares students for a career in marketing communications, possibly even with LS - see the attached flier that can be shared with your students.

Internships are available in the following departments:

• Brand Management - a unique combination of Advertising Account Service and Public Relations
• Creative - copywriting or graphic design
• Connection Planning - research, strategy development and media planning
• Financial - there's even a place for Accounting and Finance majors here

Students interested in applying should submit a cover letter, resume and any applicable portfolio samples no later than March 1, 2010. Students should be sure to specify the department in which they are most interested from those listed above.
