Monday's Meeting (1/23)

Hello PRSSA members,

We hope you had a great Dad’s Weekend! If you are interested in the ins and outs of the sports world, then tomorrow’s meeting is one that you don't want to miss.

At our meeting tomorrow (January 23) we will be hearing from Todd Sharrock, the vice president of public relations for the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Sharrock originally joined the Columbus Blue Jackets as director of communications in February 2000 and was named executive director of communications in July 2005.  He oversees the club’s communications and community relations departments, including media relations, publications, player relations, as well as editorial content on the club’s website and social media platforms.

Sharrock came to Columbus after spending five seasons with the Houston Aeros, joining the expansion International Hockey League club in 1994 and serving as the director of communications through the 1998-99 season.  He also previously served as a media relations consultant for Houston NFL Holdings LLC.

Sharrock has also served as the assistant director of public relations for the NHL’s Dallas Stars during the 1993-94 season.  He began his career as director of public relations with the Dallas Freeze of the Central Hockey League in 1992.

Sharrock earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in sport management from The Ohio State University. He currently serves on the Board of Commissioners for the Greater Columbus Sports Commission and is a member of the National Hockey League Public Relations Advisory Council.

We hope that you can join us tomorrow at 6p.m. in Scripps 111!

**Also, just a reminder, if you want to run for the VP of Member Relations position, memos are due tomorrow. Email them to scripps.prssa@gmail.com.**
